User signup API

The user signup API handles incoming sign-up texts and emails (with support from AWS). It is the service that creates GovWifi credentials for end users.

Policies

The following policies apply under GDPR:

  • Sponsored users username/password reminder: Not allowed after 90 days from initial registration or first usage. Reminders are only sent within the first 90 days.
  • Sponsored users/accounts: Deleted after 90 days of inactivity.

Inactive user deletion

Any user who has not logged into GovWifi for more than 12 months is considered inactive. Inactive users and accounts are deleted according to our retention policy.

Sponsored users/accounts are deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
